About Jolly Ink

Thank you for being here and keeping this crazy dream alive!

I’m Emily, the artist (eek, so excited to call myself that) behind Jolly Ink, originally from a quiet little county in England called Norfolk.

Jolly Ink is a combination of lino printing and digital art with a cute, playful, nostalgic influence to share jolly feelings.

Here's the story of how I went from bunny obsessed child, to elementary teacher, to Jolly Ink designer...

As a child I was always painting, snipping, drawing and sticking. This evolved to sculpting, carving, printing and exploring many art forms as a teen.

I did several years at graphic design college when my teacher broke the devastating news to me: You can only have a career in graphic design if you live in a city. (Side note: this was actually not true but I was young and didn’t realize). Aspiring to live somewhere small with cozy comforts, this option was no longer the path for me.

I qualified as an elementary teacher and Forest School leader and threw myself into being the most creative, fun, holistic, outdoorsy teacher I could be for 10 wonderful years.

Along came my sense of adventure! After juggling travel with education for my last few teaching years, I decided to throw myself ‘all in’ and teach somewhere completely new.

I set off to teach in Canada!

Before I knew it I had made a new life for myself in a cute, magical, mountain town. The day I landed, everything changed without me even realizing it!

My life slowed down. I looked out of my new bedroom window and there they were, the beautiful ‘Three Sisters’ mountains. I started carving and printing. I was back to playing, drawing, carving, printing and having fun

…but this time, unexpectedly selling my art!

…and here I am now! I still love this amazing town, I still love playing with cute designs and I am still in complete disbelief that this magic is my life.
